No Interest Loan Scheme
The No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS®) offers small loans to people on low incomes to assist with purchasing essential items and services without any fees, charges or interest rates.
Eligibility
When applying for a No Interest Loan up to $2000, there are NO credit checks. We’ll look at your income and expenses, the total loan amount, and your repayment ability, and work with you to see if the loan is affordable.
You will need to be able to provide ID to establish identity and you must have been living at your current address for at least 3 months to be eligible, also you must
Earn less than $70,000 annual income (before tax) as a single person or $100,000 annual income (before tax) if you have a partner or dependants
OR have experienced family or domestic violence in the last 10 years
OR have a Health Care Card / Pension Card
and you can show you have the capacity to repay the loan.
Borrow up to $2000 for essential goods and services including:
Household items like appliances, whitegoods & furniture
Car repairs
Medical, dental, wellbeing and life event expenses
Technology like a computer or laptop (up to $2000 limit)
Technology like a phone, tablet and all other electronic devices (up to $1000 limit)
Education expenses like fees or uniforms
Employment expenses like licenses or equipment
Borrow up to $3,000 for:
Bond on a new rental property
Costs associated with a natural disaster
NILs can not be used for cash, bills, rent or debts.

What the Loans can’t be used for
Loans cannot be used for cash, bills, rent or debts or:
Food or clothing
council rates
loans or debt
relocation costs
utility bills.

Medical, dental, wellbeing and life event expenses

Education expenses including fees and uniforms
